The decision on which organisations are successful is still made by LOCAL people. The Grants Distribution committee consists of the six elected Ashburton Trust Board members, the Mayor and two independently appointed Ashburton residents. All monies generated through the gaming machines in the Ashburton Trust establishments are returned to Mid Canterbury based organisations. Mid Canterbury is defined geographically (as opposed to Electoral boundaries) as Mountains to Sea and River (Hakatere) to River (Rangitata). Download map HERE.
The Ashburton Licensing Trust is proud and pleased to be able to support our local community in the form of sponsorships to sports clubs & teams, arts & cultural societies, special interest and education organisations. These sponsorship funds are distributed profits from the trading arm of Ashburton Licensing Trust. When we consider applications for sponsorship we will look for sponsorship where we can achieve a win:win i.e. mutually benefit both the applicant and drive awareness of the outlet providing the sponsorship. The Ashburton Licensing Trust has long supported local worthy causes in the Ashburton community. This form of funding is best suited to organisations such as hospices, charitable societies and the like where the main purpose is altruistic. The donated funds are distributed profits from the trading arm of Ashburton Licensing Trust. To apply for a donation for your organisation please contact us directly.

Application forms can be submitted at any time, be sure to get your application to the Lion Foundation as far in advance of the next meetings date as possible. Once the application is received by the Lion Foundation it is assessed to ensure that all of the required information has been submitted, if not the application is not compliant and the Lion Foundation will make contact with your organisation to advise what further information is required. Non compliant applications will not be considered at the meetings. The more time you can give the Lion Foundation to ensure your application is compliant the better to make sure your application can be considered at the next scheduled meeting.
Requests for funding for retrospective projects or events will NOT be considered under any circumstances.
